Spectral Imaging

Spectral Imaging

Spectral imaging, also known as hyperspectral imaging, collects and processes information from across the electromagnetic spectrum. The raw data output is often visualized as a “datacube.” This can be thought of as a stack of tens to hundreds of pictures with each successive image representing its own specific color (spectral band), or equivalently, as a detailed spectral curve for each pixel. The purpose of spectral imaging is to obtain the spectrum for each pixel in the image of a scene, with the purpose of finding objects, identifying materials, or detecting processes.
